Based on how uninterested the crowd is, despite having these geniuses in front of them, I completely understand why Mingus went off on them.
Now Listening: Hank Mobley’s self titled LP featuring Sonny Clark, Paul Chambers, Art Taylor, Bill Hardman, and the criminally underrated Curtis Porter. Some may recognize Porter by the name Shafi Hadi. Look up Hadi’s work with Charles Mingus. If you like Mingus, then you’ve heard Hadi’s work, you just never connected the dots.
